To hear Alois Kracher say it, it sounds so simple: "I am lucky that the climate and the soil here work wonderfully together. I try to bottle what nature gives me." Wine tasters and journalists resort to poetry to when they write about Kracher's wines. They praise "the pure, ripe aroma, the silky richness and elegance" (Stuard Pigott). Some call them "the most astonishing dessert wines I have ever encountered" (Frederic Koeppel). Others are smitten by the "most delightful white wines you could ever imagine" (Charles Metcalfe). Even typically dry British commentators like Jancis Robinson let slip superlatives like "a marvellous classic from the master." Pierre Antoine Rovani, the partner of Robert Parker, remarked that "Alois Kracher broke into my life, like an alarm into a peaceful nap.". |
